As far as comedies go, the humor that is sometimes featured in them can be wacky and unfunny. Comedies go an extra mile trying to make the audience laugh but end up with just cheap thrills. The complete opposite can be said about Game Night. Game Night is one of those rare comedies that actually has some good humor. Starring Jason Bateman and Rachel MacAdams as a married couple, the movie plays out as a comedic thriller about one crazy night.

The movie follows Max and Annie (Jason Bateman and Rachel MacAdams) who host a game night every weekend at their house with their friends. Unexpectedly, Max's brother arrives and invites them over for a game night at his expensive mansion. Once there, he explains that someone will be kidnapped and they will have to find the person in order to win the grand prize. Max, Annie, and their friends begin their search.

Game Night accomplishes to entertain the audience and at the same time give them thrills from time to time. The movie has the right balance of jokes, drama and action which the audience experience throughout the movie. Mixing comedy and thriller aspects, the movie manages to have sequences of pure comedy and pure action. Game Night is definitely one of the better comedy movies in recent years and it also has a sort of a blood connection to Office Christmas Party, which Jason Bateman also stares in. The ending of the movie also sets a path for future sequels to take place in.

The performances of Jason Bateman and Rachel MacAdams couldn't have been better. They both show an incredible talent on screen. The supporting cast has some awesome presence onscreen, when the main cast is not shown. Over all, the performance of the cast is definitely the best one shown in a comedic movie.

Fortunately, Game Night doesn't have so many negative things to be said about it. Aside from a few wacky lines of dialogue and cliche moments, Game Night is very enjoyable.

In conclusion, Game Night proves that comedy movies can still be funny with an awesome cast and great story line.

Score: 6.8/10

70/100

Things just got serious for the two of them.
