The kidnapping of John Paul Getty III was one of the most famous kidnappings in world history. The richest man on the planet, J. Paul Getty, had all the money in the world and died very rich. So, at some point, Hollywood was destined to make a movie about the kidnapping of the grandson of the richest man on the planet. Ridley Scott helmed the film, even though it was more in the style of Steven Spielberg or James Cameron, he did a really impressive job comparing to his 2017 movie, Alien: Covenant, which was good but a bit disappointing. Ridley Scott proves that he isn't just the king of SC-FI but the king of drama.

The movie starts with the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer), who gets taken away into the remote Italian countryside and held prisoner. His mother, Gail (Michelle Williams), gets notified by the kidnappers that they demand a ransom of $17 million and will only let him go if they transfer the money. J. Paul. Getty (Christopher Plummer) should now decide what he values more, his grandson's life or his wealth.

The movie is really well made with spectacular sets and the vision Ridley Scott brings to the project. The movie is based on a true story and it reflects on the realism of the film and how its presented. It fairly follows the same story of the kidnapping, only with a few added details of dialogue and action. A few details were omitted like the continuous torture of John Getty and the names of a few characters. The film is made with quality and is presented in the point of view of not just Gail Getty, but the perspective of J. Paul. Getty and his opinions and thoughts.

The acting is phenomenal and the whole cast does an incredible job. Michelle Williams is spell-binding and gives her character a very strong feminine-fighter side. Mark Wahlberg also shines along side his co-star and gives a strong performance as well. But, all the applause goes towards Christopher Plummer, who gives a performance beyond words and completely deserves to win an Academy Award.

Even though the movie is very well made, its pacing can be off from time to time, delaying the action and the climax. The climax felt a bit weak towards the end but the whole look of the movie makes up for that.

All The Money In The World is one of Ridley Scott's best films yet and is certainly a thought provoking movie about wealth and its consequences.

Score: 7/10

70/100

Gail (Michelle Williams) and Chase (Mark Wahlberg) try to find the kidnapped boy.
